SHADOWFEVER cover and synopsis

We’ve spent the past four years journeying together to the end of Mac’s story. I have no doubt it’s been easier on me than you because I’ve known the ending since the beginning. I knew there was light at the end of the tunnel, and it made me ruthless when it came to walking with Mac into the shadows.

I’m in love with books. I love the way they look, feel, smell, occupy space, and best of all, can be read, LOL. I wanted the final installment in the FEVER series to be spectacular, a book you wanted to touch, hold, treasure. Few books have that effect on me. One is Stephen King’s Lisey’s Story with its printed case and gorgeous cover (and the mastery of its author!). Another is Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast have lusciously tactile covers on their House of Night series, and I adore the imagery on Lauren Kate’s Fallen series.

When it came to brainstorming the cover for Shadowfever, I tossed phrases like “seductive menace” “deceptive nature of evil” “sexy, edgy, lush” at my publisher. We all agreed we wanted the final book to be The Book, but in what incarnation? Literally or metaphorically? What they came back with blew me away.

Shadowfever has a gorgeously designed acetate dust jacket, that is printed at the top and bottom but the clear box behind my name and title gives you a glimpse of what’s printed on the hardcover beneath it. The book itself is printed, too, like Lisey’s Story. It’s a thing publishers don’t do very often, because of the expense. The jpegs don’t do it justice. To see it go to Shadowfever.com.
